Functional Hips & Knees, strong Pelvis & healthy Lower Back – A Feldenkrais®/Smart Moves Workshop

Learn to make better use of the powerhouse of your locomotion: your hip-pelvis-lower back connection. The hip joints are part of the pelvis. The psoas muscle connects the legs to the lower back through the pelvis. Opening the hip flexors in this workshop increases healthy mobility and prevents hip damage. These Feldenkrais® movements enable you to sense the connection of your legs into your pelvis and torso so that all parts work together for powerful, flexible movement!

Still & Moving Center Birthday Celebration

Still & Moving Center’s birthday celebrations spill across the mangowood dance floor and up into the aerial points! We enjoy music, community, bodies in motion, and fun galore, not to mention birthday cake!  

We all get to try a new movement format - such as SomaChi Yoga this year - as well as some old favorites, such as Nia and Feldenkrais. And we get wowed by all the colorful performances and demonstrations, such as hula, contemporary and belly dance!

Introductory Yoga-Dance Workshop: Shin Somatics with Kay Nelson, Somatics trainer

Join for "Land to Water Yoga” and simultaneously enjoy a dance experience. Learn about Shin Somatics, visiting guest trainer Kay Nelson. Somatics is how we feel, move, do!

Land to Water Yoga is movement from the land where we are now back down to the ground to represent the water world we begin where we began. We can also begin from the ground, representing water moving up to the land where we are now.  The workshop consists of hour and a half of movement, with 30 minutes of introduction, explanation, and questions. Shin Somatics was created by Sondra Fraleigh, a luminary in conscious movement.

Spacial Dynamics for Health: A Visualization & Movement Workshop with Regina Lumsden

The victim of a car/bike collision herself, Regina had to teach herself to walk again. Regina now feels inspired to teach this workshop after seeing so many of her bodywork clients injure themselves unnecessarily. Regina is a long-time teacher of Spatial Dynamics, Eurhythmy, and recently, Nia.

5-Day Shin Somatics® Training: Dance, Somatic Yoga, Bodywork

Aug 22-26, 2019. This transformational practice is rich with images from nature and yoga chakras. Dance and yoga meet in this conscious movement practice. Human development from infant to individual infuses the yoga practice. Yoga teachers can earn CEC’s  with Yoga Alliance. This training comes from Eastwest Somatics Institute. Graduates of the Institute qualify for the designation Registered Somatic Movement Therapist RSMT and Registered Somatic Movement Educator RSME.

Black Earth – Open Rehearsal

Nia Mentorship: “Deep Dive” Routine

An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Sunday, repeating until December 15, 2019

13 week series: Sundays, Sept 1 - Dec15, 2019. Be like water and connect to the liquid space within the body and with each movement you make with Nia’s “Deep Dive.” Winalee Zeeb’s choreography soothes the soul, while offering delightful challenges to the body and brain.

Participants in former mentorships series have evolved into teaching single songs as guest instructors; teaching partial or whole classes as subs; to teaching classes of their own. Experienced teachers find new inspiration and insight mentoring with Renée and fellow mentees.

This mentorship program important instructional tips and a huge virtual hug of support and encouragement.  You will share bonds of fellowship and interconnectedness that with your fellow mentees that are almost palpable.

Nia Blue Belt Intensive Training with Winalee Zeeb

September 16-22, 2019. Nia Blue Belt is a weeklong intensive training, the second level of Nia education after White Belt. Blue Belt explores how to create healthy relationships through body-centered communication. This intensive introduces the next set of 13 Nia principles, and which starts from the body to focus on the mental, emotional and spiritual realms of the self.
