This workshop helps your spine to untwist, to realign, and to self-heal. We use the sophisticated movement sequences of the Feldenkrais® Method and Eva’s Smart Moves to re-find spinal health, regain your range of motion and undo tension and pain.

In the course of this workshop, you will learn easy and gentle movements to take your health into your own hands. Instead of being adjusted or treated time and time again by others,  you can now learn what it is that causes you discomfort, tension or effort, and learn how to avoid it. Replace unconscious movement patterns with healthy ones that will make movement easier and smoother. If you have a twist in your spine (such as scoliosis) this workshop can be very helpful in teaching you how to lengthen your spine in the right direction. The diaphragm is not just for breathing and eyes are not only important for seeing! Through easy and gentle movements as prescribed in the Feldenkrais Method, we can learn to recognize and eliminate many of the common habits that interfere with easy, effortless vision, deep breathing and good spinal organization. This workshop will focus on the diaphragm/lungs, neck, 7th cervical and eyes.  

The diaphragm moves, day in and day out, to move our lungs but it also has intimate relationship with the heart and the neck. The 7th cervical is a key vertebrae with many nerves going down the arms and the spine. Dr. Feldenkrais once said: “We would not have neck problems if our lungs would glide freely.”
The diaphragm is a large muscle in the center of our body that is badly understood and neglected. When it does not move well, the diaphragm not only hampers oxygen intake but also pulls on the chest and neck. The 7th cervical vertebrae needs to be able to communicate with the diaphragm for a free neck!

The movement of our eyes organizes the movements of our body, our vision impacts and interacts with every movement we make throughout our whole body, as well as how we feel and think. Vision is the primary sense through which we experience the world.  We can also learn new skills that transform the use of our eyes, helping us to see more clearly. As our thoughts move busily here and there, our eyes respond and move busily here and there. When our neck and posture is tight and tense, our eyes will be tight and tense. When our breathing is held or frozen, our eyes will be held and fixed and our neck tense.
This workshop will help you to reclaim your healthy spinal movement, breathing and use of your eyes.

Less is More: The Feldenkrais Method® and Smart Moves

Whenever we act or exercise with unnecessary effort and force, our neuromuscular system organizes defensively to protect us from potential danger and damage. In this way, over the course of our lives, we build up conflicting patterns of anxiety and strain throughout our body/mind and the muscles of our eyes, patterns that become habitual and unconscious. Try as we might, we cannot release this strain by force of will. We know for ourselves that with habits we want to change, the more we try to resist or change the habit, the less effective we feel and the stronger the habit becomes. We don’t know why, but somehow we feel tangled up in knots.

Through guided Smart Moves and Feldenkrais lessons, we learn that the secret to success is that the less effort we exert, the greater the change and improvement. As we become more discriminating and sensitive to our internal sensations, we can feel the knots as tangible resistance to effortless movement. We can then knowingly, and with great precision, chose to release otherwise inaccessible strain and tension. We learn how to untangle the tangle!

With the Feldenkrais Method we can recognize those hindering habits and find better ways of moving that are healthy, strengthening and pain free. This does not only happen on the physical plane but also ripples out into the rest of one’s life.

In this workshop, you learn movement lessons that will help you to free your neck, get rid of pain and benefit your shoulders, arms, hands and entire posture.

The neck is like a bottleneck between our brain and our torso. Unfortunately that is where we carry around lots of tension and injuries making that narrow place even narrower. That results in many unpleasant, painful and even dangerous conditions. If we can soften and heal there we may have a whole different outlook on our life. These Feldenkrais movements are easy to do and good for all age groups (from 9 to 99) and most medical conditions.

Turning freely around your Axis: Neck & Spine Mobility, Better Vision

The benefits of this seminar are better eyesight, memory enhancement, good posture and more mobility in your neck and entire spine. There is an intimate relationship between eyes, neck and spine: The eyes organize the spine. They can help it to turn better and become more elongated. Eyes do not have to deteriorate when you get older. Glasses are not the cure for bad vision; it is merely a good crutch. If your eyes are not as good as they should be, you can change that with these wonderful Feldenkrais eye lessons.

You learn to balance the curves in your spine. Through mobilization of all the vertebrae you will find better posture, health and healing for the bones, stability and mobility.

The Atlas and the Sacrum have a special relationship. The sacrum is one of the most fascinating bones in the body. The sacrum is literally the middle of the person, the center and originating point for the energy which ascends and descends through the spine. The sacrum is the lower pole of the cerebrospinal system. It conveys the greatest energy charge in the spine, so it is very important to have the sacrum well centered and stable!

Re-balance, restore and realign forgotten muscles, connective tissue and organs. Usually when we think of muscles we think of the bigger muscles like hamstrings or stomach muscles. Yet we rarely give attention to many important small muscles, such as ones that move: the sphincter, the mouth, eyes or the vertebra of spine, deep. These muscle groups are often very unbalanced, just as one side of a person’s face and mouth may move quite differently than the other. That crooked and inefficient usage shows an inherent imbalance in the system. Organs like the lungs and the intestines can be inhibited to work efficiently because of tight inner muscles.
