This workshop is about finding positive connection to your inner resources of strength for recovery from any trauma, scarring event or disease. Dance to find the stillness within the movement, create connection to your own amazing, restorative energy, establish proper communication with your true self by listening to your inner voice. Find the goddess in you through meditation, movement and dance. Jerome, himself a breast cancer survivor and the son of a mother with breast cancer, has worked with women with cancer, as well as with female victims of abuse and violence. He recently brought 200 women in Virginia – through the non-profit organization Beyond Boobs – to re-connect with their femininity through introspection, reflection, healing movement and dance.

Do you ever feel stiff, unexpressive in your dancing, even though you know the steps? Or do you just love those Afro and Latin rhythms, but really don’t know the dance forms? This workshop takes the fundamental Latin/Caribbean dance principles of Connection, Musicality, Movement, and Liberty and expands your understanding, application and experience through proven techniques and comprehensive instruction.
This workshop’s teachings are foundational for several Afro-Caribbean and Latin Dances including, but not limited to: Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Merengue, Afro-Rumba, Cumbia, Orisha, Afro-Caribbean Folkloric, and Afro-Contemporary dance. From warm-ups that will introduce you to some of the basic movement of Afro-Latin-Caribbean dance, your teachers will teach you a piece of choreography, then help you to dance it with heartfelt expression.Jerome and Jarryd’s company WEPA – Wellness, Expression, and Progress through the Arts – presents this workshop at Still & Moving Center.
