Feldenkrais for Happy Feet

Happy feet are a pleasure to walk on. In this workshop, you will learn movements to make your feet stronger and more mobile while working on good posture at the same time. Having painful or deformed feet from misuse act as a drag on the body. Regaining flexible feet and ankles is of vital importance for balance. We can change our posture from the neck down and from the feet up.

Feldenkrais for Happy Knees, Spinal Rotation & Side Bending

This workshop helps improve walking, hiking, running, dancing and even tennis and golfing! It is great for hula dancers! It will feel like a vacation for your bigger joints! Your ribs are the ‘bumpers’ for your knees. If the ribcage is stiff, there is little elasticity for your walk and little shock absorption for any unevenness of the ground. Help your thoracic spine to move in harmony with your legs and pelvis and do a counter-rotation for stabilization.

Feldenkrais for Functional Hips, Flexible Pelvis & Strong Lower Back

Learn to make better use of the powerhouse of your locomotion: your hip-pelvis-lower back connection. The hip joints are part of the pelvis. The psoas muscle connects the legs to the lower back through the pelvis. Opening the hip flexors in this workshop increases healthy mobility and prevents hip damage. These Feldenkrais® movements enable you to sense the connection of your legs into your pelvis and torso so that all parts work together for powerful, flexible movement!

The Feldenkrais Method is a wonderful and potent method to rebalance, realign and heal areas in your movement coordination. The method is gentle and only requires a curiosity about your own movement habits and ways that sometimes are taken for granted but that we all learned at some time. Some of those habits are causing limitations, pain, inflammation and exertion. With the Feldenkrais Method it is possible to recognize those hindering habits and find plus form better ones that are healthy, strengthening and pain free. This does not only happen on the physical plane but also ripples out into the rest of one’s life.

Discover the connection between your lower back and neck. Learn to gently heal yourself and ease your discomfort. Since the spine is a chain of vertebra, there is a correspondence between the neck and the lower back. By aligning your neck you will realign your lower back. In this workshop we approach the alignment and mobility from both ends.

Good posture makes you look and feel healthy, strong and poised.The Maasai tribe in Africa is known for its elegant, long, erect posture from neck to lower back. They can walk for many miles without tiring, keeping their ease and bounce.

The beauty of the Maasai posture is its ease, with no shoulders taken back or tummies tucked in. Their uprightness comes from a clear inner skeletal alignment where muscles are free to move without gripping unnecessarily. Artificially forced and unbalanced posture can adversely affect eyesight, thinking, mood, bones, joints and ligaments, as well as organ function. A well-aligned spine significantly contributes to your overall health. ‘Walking like a Maasai’ is a nice conclusion to Eva’s Feldenkrais workshops she heads off to Germany again.

In this workshop we will NOT do a headstand. We WILL explore wonderful Feldenkrais lessons to help everyone eventually feel safe putting weight on their head and neck. Yogis, this is a great time for a little cross training with the brilliant anatomical efficiency of Feldenkrais movement!

This workshop will take you through an entire range of gentle body movements to enhance the wellbeing of your spine. Anybody with neck and spine concerns will emerge feeling better, as well as anyone who wants to prepare for a safe headstand!

Walking on Clouds: Feet, Knees and Hips – Feldenkrais Workshop

This wonderful short workshop with 2 lessons will not only pamper your feet but also realign your ankles and knees with your hip joints and pelvis. When this joints are subtle and well aligned, walking becomes effortless and fun. Injury can be prevented and already established injury helped to heal.

This workshop is a nice warm up for the big rolling lessons that follow or can be taken just by itself.

‘Roll over Beethoven’ – Feldenkrais Workshop

These powerful Feldenkrais rolling lessons mobilize the spine and pelvis They are fun and potent! As children we had to learn rolling in order to walk. When we cannot roll smoothly anymore than we loose an important part of our movement range and organization. These rolling lessons can help tremendously to lengthen a tight back and harmonize the stomach and the back muscles, as well as open up joints and lengthen ligaments. Even more important you will pleasantly gain mobility, feel more grounded and security knowing that should you ever fall you know how to roll.

Dr. Feldenkrais was a physicist and a black belt in Judo. The higher philosophy of Judo teaches that the ability to roll gives you security and an advantage in life.

Usually when we think of muscles we think of the bigger muscles like hamstrings or stomach muscles. Yet we rarely give attention to many important small muscles, such as ones that move: the sphincter, the mouth, eyes or the vertebra of spine, deep. These muscle groups are often very unbalanced, just as one side of a person’s face and mouth may move quite differently than the other. That crooked and inefficient usage shows an inherent imbalance in the system. Organs like the lungs and the intestines can be inhibited to work efficiently because of tight inner muscles.

With this Intensive you will be surprised about the results once you start bringing movement with awareness to balance these unaware parts of yourself. By doing the Feldenkrais work for 3 consecutive days you give yourself the chance to transform things in your life that go way beyond your musculature. The 3 days build upon each other yet workshops can be taken singularly.

9/18 Ha! What about easy, efficient Breathing?!?

Lungs, diaphragm, intercostal, nostrils, vocal chords all will be part of this evenings movement lessons. As oxygen is more crucial then food for life we want to improve lung function and learn to use one of our biggest muscles in our system well, the diaphragm. This will be also beneficial for our Thoracic spine.

Elvis ‘The Pelvis’ has also a tall spine and a good voice…! Improvements in pelvic floor, diaphragm and palate lead to alignment of the entire spine!

9/20 Clear Eyes and Relaxed Neck!

Eyes are the mirror of the soul! When eyes are clear and flexible memory may improve and the neck is soft as well. We will be working with muscles that move the eyes and lead to the neck. Eyesight can be improved and with that flexibility for the neck! We also soften the jaw.

The spine, housing the nerves of our spinal cord, connects every part of the body with the brain. Health of the body depends heavily upon health of the spine. Back problems can disrupt our health in many ways. A healthy, functioning spine promotes whole body wellness, with accompanying benefits to our emotional wellbeing and our ability to think clearly.

The Feldenkrais Method® is a very advanced approach of Body-Mind integration and healing that uses re-patterning through developing awareness. Feldenkrais is based on exact knowledge of brain and body co-functioning during movement. It shares many of the same principles and techniques with Qigong. These movements are simple, gentle and can be repeated at home once you learn them.

Each of these Feldenkrais® workshops is designed to give you enough time to immerse yourself into the specialized area of the spine and surrounding areas. You may very well experience often a big improvement of your wellbeing right after the first workshop.
