In order to facilitate walking and running the pelvis has to be mobile and strong. The strongest muscles are attached to the pelvis. In this workshop you learn how to use that power in a coordinated efficient movement and how to use your pelvic floor to  be upright and relax your neck.
The pelvic floor is involved in many basic life functions as varied as digestion, elimination, reproduction and breathing. Improvement starts with awareness. The movement of the pelvic floor is subtle, and yet it is possible for all of us to feel its effect.. If you want to improve the function of the pelvic floor, you have to learn how to contract and relax all of it, in a balanced and more equal manner. This is what makes your pelvic floor healthier and stronger, using all parts coordinated with your whole body. From the pelvic floor we will move on to address the pelvis itself, plus the lumbar spine.
The Feldenkrais Method® is a very advanced approach of Body-Mind Integration and Healing that uses re-patterning through developing awareness and exact knowledge of brain and body co-functioning during movement. It shares many of the same principles and techniques with Qigong. These movements are simple and gentle and can be repeated at home once you learn them.

Learn to walk with ease, realign your posture and increase your overall health. Good posture comes not from muscular effort but from the optimal use of the skeleton. Good posture makes you look and feel healthy, poised and potent. The Massai Tribe in Africa is known for its elegant, long, erect posture. They can walk for many miles without tiring, keeping their ease and bounce. The beauty of their posture is the ease, no shoulders taken back or tummies tucked in. Their uprightness comes from a clear inner skeletal alignment where muscles are free to move without holding unnecessary tension. We will learn this practice with the Feldenkrais®/Smart Moves techniques.
Posture often is misunderstood and is artificially forced and unbalanced. People do their best they know how, but have often a wrong notion. The resulting poor posture can adversely affect eyesight, thinking, mood, bones, joints and ligaments and the optimal functioning of organs.
A well-aligned spine significantly contributes to your overall health.
The spine, housing the nerves of our spinal cord, connects every part of the body with the brain. The health of the body depends heavily upon health of the spine. Back problems can disrupt our health in many ways. A healthy, functioning spine promotes whole body wellness, accompanying benefits to our emotional wellbeing and our ability to think clearly.

If you are already having troubles with knees or hips, plantar fasciitis, heavy legs or arthritis this workshop can give you great help and insight. If you just want to have more flexibility and spring in your movement it is also the right place to come and take that home with you. Your body will love you for it!
In this workshop you will give a lot of TLC to your feet and joints through Smart Moves and better usage. Knees, hips and feet all have to connect well to support and enhance each other. They also need flexibility on their own. All of them together translate movement into locomotion. All of them have to connect to the pelvis and trunk to achieve well coordinated movement and prevent or repair injury.

Dr. Feldenkrais was intimately acquainted with the workings of our nervous system and anatomical structure. He developed a system of moving the body in gentle, non-threatening ways that re-educate the nervous system so that our intent and our action will be concurrent. Muscle and brain functions can be restored. In some cases, the Feldenkrais Method leads the student/client/patient through performing movement on their own; in other cases the Feldenkrais practitioner works hands-on. Through gentle touch and careful, slow movements, the nervous system is informed, mostly non-verbally, on how to coordinate movement more functionally. The results include healthier movement habits and possibilities, reduction of pain and inflammation, and increased awareness of body and self – among many other benefits.

jerrymosheMoshe Feldenkrais studied how children learn and move. Obviously people make the biggest learning steps in the beginning of their lives. It is in the time when children are allowed to learn organically before they go to school. After examining organic learning Dr. Feldenkrais incorporated the principles of organic learning into his method. This workshop will shed light on organic learning and movement patterns associated with it. This is an experiential workshop! Dress comfortably for movement. Bring 2 towels. Mats available! This is an Intro into a 12-month Feldenkrais Intensive for Professionals.

What is Good Posture and How to Attain it? Part 1

Everyone wants good posture, but what is it and how can we attain it?! There is so much misunderstanding about good posture even from professionals who should know but learned something inaccurate. We know good posture is important for the health of our spine and our organs, as well as our ability to move. Our posture is also our way of presenting ourselves to the world. In this dynamic Feldenkrais workshop, we do an in-depth exploration to sense our spine and posture accurately from within, and then learn to improve our posture in a natural way.

5/7  3-5:45 pm

What is Good Posture and How to Improve and Maintain it? Part 2

Attaining our Good Posture, we learn how to sense our spine and posture accurately from within. Then we can improve our ‘Acture” the Feldenkrais way: smart, mindful and effective. Posture has to do with the action we take. With diverse activity, we constantly have to change our posture. Dr. Feldenkrais called that ‘Acture’- Posture in Action. The ability to have the right ‘Acture’ is helping us in all areas of our lives to be successful in caring out our intention to our satisfaction.

Feldenkrais for Happy Feet

Happy feet are a pleasure to walk on. In this workshop, you will learn movements to make your feet stronger and more mobile while working on good posture at the same time. Having painful or deformed feet from misuse act as a drag on the body. Regaining flexible feet and ankles is of vital importance for balance. We can change our posture from the neck down and from the feet up.

4/3   4:30-6:15p

Feldenkrais for Happy Knees, Spinal Rotation & Side Bending

This workshop helps improve walking, hiking, running, dancing and even tennis and golfing! It is great for hula dancers! It will feel like a vacation for your bigger joints! Your ribs are the ‘bumpers’ for your knees. If the ribcage is stiff, there is little elasticity for your walk and little shock absorption for any unevenness of the ground. Help your thoracic spine to move in harmony with your legs and pelvis and do a counter-rotation for stabilization.

4/9  3-5.45 pm

Feldenkrais for Functional Hips, Flexible Pelvis & Strong Lower Back

Learn to make better use of the powerhouse of your locomotion: your hip-pelvis-lower back connection. The hip joints are part of the pelvis. The psoas muscle connects the legs to the lower back through the pelvis. Opening the hip flexors in this workshop increases healthy mobility and prevents hip damage. These Feldenkrais® movements enable you to sense the connection of your legs into your pelvis and torso so that all parts work together for powerful, flexible movement!
