Rolling is something we did as kids when our spines and ribs were still very flexible. In this workshop you can learn to have such a flexible spine again that rolling becomes pleasurable and informative to the health of your nervous system. Finding easier movement in the spine, you free the ribcage, and with it your breathing.

The ability to roll when you fall can be life saving. To be able to feel the enjoyment of rolling on the floor and giving your connective tissue a nice massage instead of feeling stiff will make your whole being happy.

The genius of the Feldenkrais© Method is to teach movement so that the impossible is possible, the difficult becomes easy, and the easy becomes elegant. Wouldn’t it feel wonderful to bend down easily and to get onto and off of the floor without any difficulty?  

This workshop will be playful and eye opening. It will open the chest, correct round backs and help your breathing. Your neck as well as your lower back may benefit. Your whole spine can achieve health and strength!  

This workshop may be taken by itself, yet Saturday will be a good preparation as it will get the spine ready for rolling.

Since completing the 4-year Professional Feldenkrais Training in 1987 she has been teaching the Feldenkrais Method® internationally in thousands of private sessions, week long seminars, many hundreds of week-end workshops and evening classes.

Eva is also a teacher of Contemporary Dance, Qigong-Universal Tao of Mantak Chia, a IAO healer, a Capoeirista (Brazilian Martial Arts) and a choreographer. She also teaches Authentic Movement and Wave Continuum, a spin of Continuum Movement.

Learn to breathe well, and you’ll lose that pain in your neck… Wait, what?!?

Surprisingly, learning to move the diaphragm and ribcage can unlock neck tension, scoliosis and immobility in the spine! Proper breathing provides huge benefits, including mental health and disease resistance! Oxygen is our primary source of energy, our lifeline, even before water and food: breathe well and everything changes. 

In this workshop you get acquainted with your biggest muscle, the diaphragm. Once you learn to ‘drive’ this ‘motor’ in the center of your body, you move everything connected to it with greater ease. The diaphragm and the musculature between the ribs learn to work together. The diaphragm pulls equally, releasing unwanted curvatures in the spine. Your ribcage frees up and softens, and your spine elongates. The breath benefit travels up through your thoracic spine into your neck!  Who knew?

While you may take this workshop by itself, you will find that Sunday’s back-rolling workshop will reinforce the mobility and ease of breathing that you gain on Saturday.

During this workshop we’ll explore how the long Vagus Nerve communicates with the face, brain, and heart. When we were in the womb, the head bowed to the heart, connecting through the vagus nerve early on.  With unique sounds, breath, and spiral movement, we will explore this vagus nerve communication axis in the WaveContinuum way. 

In WaveContinuum, we evoke the healing power of water through sound, breath, and spiral movement, delving into the wisdom of “our inner biology.” Here we invite our inner waters to penetrate and saturate all the different layers of ourselves: muscles, connective tissue, organs, and cells. 

We learn to sense movements that come from deep inside and let them flow outwardly. In our body, we carry information from all the different stages of life, from the single cell-protozoa to the upright walking being. Diverse movement possibilities expand and provide new opportunities in our life. 

WaveContinuum can help dissolve pain and limitations. We learn to evoke fluids and spark electrical pulses through the body to heal and multiply healthy cells. Through the gentle, intuitive spiral movements and sounds, we explore beauty, strength, and creativity. We may even reverse aging. We tap into the wisdom that lies inside of the body’s fluid system and create a balance between Water, Fire, and Earth elements.

Heart, Vagus Nerve, Face & Gut Connection

On Sunday we continue strengthening the heart while freeing the neck, the face, jaw and tongue. With Feldenkrais/SmartMoves lessons we may take years off our faces, make our smile more radiant and our mouth more spacious. Many invisible benefits will become apparent from within.

As highly evolved beings, we possess a very adaptive vagus nerve that connects the brain and its busy activities with our gut. How does it do that? Through the heart! As the longest nerve in our body, the vagus nerve integrates the thoughts of the mind – as they play upon our facial expressions and in our voice – with that “gut feeling” by GOING THROUGH THE HEART! We find that a strong heart center integrates the ideas and sociability of the mind with instinctive information that comes from the gut. This allows us to adapt and self-regulate in ways that reptiles, for example, cannot do, being confined to instinct only. 

This workshop seeks to integrate the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais – an early pioneer of neuroplasticity, who worked wonders on human health via the mind-body connection through the nervous system – with Dr Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal theory, on the vagus nerve connecting our higher and lower centers:the Neuroscience of Polarisation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmkG5l7CaGw) Additionally, Chinese medicine teaches that the tongue has an intimate connection with both the jaw and the heart.

To find practical applications for improving your health and strengthening your heart, your teacher Eva Geueke draws from her decades of experience as a Feldenkrais practitioner, as well as her extensive work in Mantac Chia’s Qigong practice and Emily Conrad’s Continuum practice.

Attendees will have access to a video recording session for a days after the workshop, at a modest price.

Your hip-pelvis-lower back connection is your powerhouse of locomotion. Free that area up, and just imagine how you will move again! 

Gently opening the hip flexor (psoas) muscles in this workshop increases healthy mobility and prevents hip damage.The psoas muscle connects the legs to the lower back through the pelvis. The hip joints work on each side of the pelvis. Use these subtle Feldenkrais movement sequences to regain your range of motion, undoing hip and back tension and pain. 

As you mindfully do these movements, you can sense your legs connecting into your hips, pelvis and torso, so that all parts work together for powerful, flexible movement!

This workshop will ensure your spine to stay healthy and/or help it to heal. If you have a twist in your spine (scoliosis) this workshop can teach you how to lengthen your spine in the right direction. In any case most neck, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae will benefit and feel more mobile yet stable. You may be able to reduce headaches with these movements.

In the course of this workshop you learn to take your health into your own hands with easy and small movements. Instead of being adjusted or treated again and again by somebody else, you can now learn what it is that causes you discomfort, tension or effort, then learn how to avoid it. You learn to replace unconscious movement patterns with healthy ones that will make life easier and smoother.

Elegant walking is not only beautiful but also efficient and healthy!

This workshop will relax and organize the many bones in the feet, strengthen the ankles and set the hip joints and knees in right relationship with the  feet and pelvis. In walking we coordinate many joints together, from the circles that the feet make, to the hip joint and shoulder circles, to the uprightness of the spine and the clarity of the head resting on top of it. Efficient and elegant walking requires an elasticity from the feet to the neck and vice versa. We learn how to let go of unnecessary holding and unconscious stiffening.
