As a special, interactive feature, this class opens with Aloha Sparkle ✨ by Still & Moving Center’s Ambassador of Aloha, Doris Morisaki. Doris will greet you during the first 10 minutes before class (1:50 pm) as you check into Zoom. She will give a brief Aloha Sparkle ✨ tip just before you start class: a humorous Hawaiian habit, an interesting Hawaiian or Pidgin word, a Hawaiian food tip or a fun place to go in Hawaii.
BOWSPRING YOGA class that Kenta teaches develops the natural curves of your spine and body, avoiding traditional Hatha yoga poses, which tend to be more linear. By mindfully holding curvy, bow-shaped postures during the 60 minute class, you can alleviate back pain, stiffness in your shoulders, and other chronic pain. You will sharpen your mental focus, while toning, limbering and balancing your body.
This cutting edge yoga style was developed by Desi Springer and John Friend in 2012. Kenta’s class is OPEN TO ALL LEVELS, and is good for everyone, including beginners, seniors and serious yoga students wanting to try something new.
Kenta Nakano 中野憲太
Kenta had no experience in yoga until he was forty years old. Once he returned home to Japan from 7 years working in Los Angeles, California as a top-ranked burger chef, he started to seriously study yoga.
He became so engaged in yoga, he certified as a ERYT200 yoga teacher trainer, and has trained thousands of Japanese students since 2011 – both in Japan and in Hawaii, providing them with RYT200 certificates.
Kenta started studying Bowspring Yoga in 2013 after taking a workshop with Desi Springer and John Friend in San Francisco. The Bowspring method impressed him in its difference from the traditional hatha yoga he had been practicing. He says, “The lessons were unforgettable, especially the “skydiver” pose, which was very exciting, tough, and nearly killed me!”
Practicing Bowspring changed his mind, body and health. He recovered from years of kidney stones and lower back pain. Knowing that he wanted to share this mind-body method with the rest of Japan, he set up two Studio Bowspring locations in Tokyo. Now the CEO of LIVEWELL, Inc, Kenta operates 20 hot yoga studios across Japan, called HOT40 Yoga. They also teach “Hot Bow” classes there!
Twenty years ago, and for a short period of time, Kenta was a Kabuki theater actor. In addition to theater, he proudly studies and treasures Japanese culture and Zen philosophy. As you may know, the word “Kata” originates from the Zen Philosophy concept of mindfulness. As a Global Bowspring certified teacher trainer, he believes it to be his dharma (duty) to integrate the new yoga technique of the Bowspring method with traditional Asian culture. As a life-long learner, Kenta continues to study Bowspring from Desi, John, and other respected teachers.
Doris Morisaki ドーリス・モリサキ
クム・フラ（フラのマスター講師）マリア・ヘレラの下で８０００時間のトレーニングを受け、アラカイ・フラ（フラのリーダー）としてクラスのサポートをしてきたドーリスはクム ・マリアのようにフラを踊りながら、ウクレレを弾き、歌います。日本語で “I Love Hula”クラスを教えています。
Born to Japanese parents in Hawaii, Doris grew up speaking both Japanese and English. A true daughter of the islands, Doris exudes a vivacious genuineness for what she loves and believes in. Doris is well-loved for sharing her aloha – her friendship and warmth. Starting from her years working at Hilton Hawaiian Village hotel, Doris loves to share every good thing her island home has to offer.
Doris is steeped in the dance of Hawaii, hula. With 8,000 hours of training with Mālia Helelā, kumu hula (master teacher of hula), Doris has earned the position of alaka’i hula (hula leader). She sings and plays ukulele while dancing hula. She teaches “I Love Hula” class in Japanese.
An avid cook (Hawaiians LOVE food, and Doris is a “foodie” herself), Doris has a fun-loving nature that comes out when she helps her husband, a medical doctor, make fabulous balloon art in their spare time!

Have you ever wondered how a belly dance teacher might give themselves a great workout? This is your chance to sneak into a dance teacher’s ‘home studio’ and follow along. In addition to a getting an intro to Turkish Belly Dance as a whole-body practice, you’ll also focus on your hips, core and arms – with great music as you go!
Your teacher Murat Demirtas teaches not only dance, but also Pilates and Foam Rolling Massage. Meanwhile he’s a Personal Trainer. He shows you variations of intensity levels so that you can adapt your workout to what works best in YOUR body. He’ll start you out with a dance warmup, then take you through beginning Turkish Belly Dance moves and steps, dancing all the way. Go from there into a muscle-strengthening workout, followed by the chance to roll out and stretch.
Be ready for a cool drink and a hot shower by the time you finish. First shimmy, then shine! You’ll feel like a million bucks!
Feel free to have a foam roller, rolled towel, and/or tennis balls available. You can wear a belly dance skirt or any fabric piece to tie around your hips.
Murat Demirtas hails from a background of dance, gymnastics, and aerobics. He has taught dance and various movement modalities for the Turkish educational system, professional dance companies and artists. He has performed for many big companies including the Women for Nike Tour.
Based on his belief that every individual is a healer. Murat’s mission is to create an environment that guides people to evolve into their full potential. His successful classes are a fusion dance and aerobics that helps to bring an awareness of an individual’s inner power. Murat is the perfect balance of creativity and business. This weekly offering gives spiritual seekers the opportunity to learn and share from the great wealth of the world’s wisdom traditions. Each week we will focus on one brilliant gem, a teaching to illuminate our minds and hearts.
Various cultures in all times and places have produced sparkling gems of inspiration – the crystallized essence of spiritual insight. In many cases we know something of the enlightened being – sage, seer, saint – who gave us that gem and lived his or her life accordingly. In all cases, these teachings have informed the lives of the tradition’s followers, bringing clarity to their daily decisions and depth to their meditations.
To begin each circle, one featured speaker will give a short presentation on a brilliant spiritual teaching from one of the world’s wisdom traditions, together with information on the Teacher who conveyed and embodied it.

Renée Tillotson, Director, founded Still & Moving Center to share mindful movement arts from around the globe. Her inspiration comes from the Joy and moving meditation she experiences in the practice of Nia, and from the lifelong learning she’s gained at the Institute of World Culture in Santa Barbara, California. Still & Moving Center aspires to serve the community, support the Earth and its creatures, and always be filled with laughter and friendship!
Enthusiasm fills every class and event Renée leads. The motto: ‘Move your body. Still your mind. Find center. Find Joy!” motivates her daily life.
A second degree Nia Black Belt, Renée says, “Through Nia I realized that I was born to dance…and perhaps everyone is! Nia connects me to pure Joy. I aspire to extend that Joy into the rest of my life and share it with every student who steps into my circle. Nia embraces both the yin and yang energies, helping all of us to balance our natures. Nia serves as a moving meditation for me, as well as a chance to play like a child again! I like to think of my classes as invigorating the body and elevating the spirit.”
Engaged in an earnest, life-long spiritual quest, Renée assembles the Still & Moving Center Almanac each year, filled with inspirational quotes by everyone from the Dalai Lama to Dolly Parton. She loves taking part in conversations that merge philosophical, spiritual and scientific thought with a lifestyle of compassion.
Renée has been moving and sharing Nia since 2002. She took all of her Nia intensive trainings at Nia International Headquarters from the co-creators of Nia: Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas. She considers herself a citizen of the world, and brings mindful movement practices from around the globe under one roof at Still & Moving Center.

Join us at Still & Moving Center for the Festival of Lights, which is a most beloved time of year that is celebrated all throughout India. It will be a magical night where we celebrate the victory of light over darkness and wisdom over ignorance.
Witness our Martial Arts teacher portraying the battle scene from the Ramayana. Be moved by a number of dance performances that sing praise to the light. We will also give a preview of the 2016 Cultural Expedition to India that we will spend next year preparing for! We will serve Indian food – donations gratefully accepted. This event is open to the public and great for families.
Diwali marks the beginning of the new year for Indians, and celebrates the victory of Prince Rama in the epic tale, the Ramayana. Because of its exemplary universal message, we will give international performances to reenact parts of the classic Indian epic, which is an adventure tale of romance, action and drama.
We will also give a preview of the 2016 Cultural Expedition to India that we will spend next year to get ready for! We will serve Indian food by donation. This event is open to the public and great for families.
