Have you ever wondered how a belly dance teacher might give themselves a great workout? This is your chance to sneak into a dance teacher’s ‘home studio’ and follow along. In addition to a getting an intro to Turkish Belly Dance as a whole-body practice, you’ll also focus on your hips, core and arms – with great music as you go!
Your teacher Murat Demirtas teaches not only dance, but also Pilates and Foam Rolling Massage. Meanwhile he’s a Personal Trainer. He shows you variations of intensity levels so that you can adapt your workout to what works best in YOUR body. He’ll start you out with a dance warmup, then take you through beginning Turkish Belly Dance moves and steps, dancing all the way. Go from there into a muscle-strengthening workout, followed by the chance to roll out and stretch.
Be ready for a cool drink and a hot shower by the time you finish. First shimmy, then shine! You’ll feel like a million bucks!
Feel free to have a foam roller, rolled towel, and/or tennis balls available. You can wear a belly dance skirt or any fabric piece to tie around your hips.
Murat Demirtas hails from a background of dance, gymnastics, and aerobics. He has taught dance and various movement modalities for the Turkish educational system, professional dance companies and artists. He has performed for many big companies including the Women for Nike Tour.
