Sacred Healing Dance is a free form movement class meant to restore wellness through motion. Our thoughts trap energy in certain parts of the body, and like massage, “working” that area with movement, breath, and processing can help release it. Every class is different. Sometimes we cry, sometimes we play; it will depend on what each participant needs in the moment.
If you are going through something and feel sad, hurt, alone, or just not fully yourself… come to the class. If you feel high on life and ready to celebrate… come to the class. Be in a sacred space, the right people will (or won’t) show up. Leave with a little piece of yourself you had forgotten about. It is a class to honor yourself, your fellow movers, the space and the Earth we live on.
You’ll find Sacred Healing Dance to be a great complement to Nia FreeDance!
Alina’s goal in life is to bring people together in love and in joy. Healing has also been a major part of Alina’s journey after her own cancer battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006. She attended the Barbra Brennan School of Healing, opened her healing practice and started incorporating healing in all of her dance classes. Alina believes that dance has the full potential to heal our bodies, mind and emotions.
With any and every type of dance she encountered throughout her life, Alina was in: Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Belly Dance. Then she discovered partner dancing… Ballroom, including Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, and the Latin Dances with Cha Cha, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Rumba. She also dabbled in country line dancing and martial arts.
Alina has taught for 12 years. She teaches in big group settings at schools, country clubs, dance studios and performance centers, as well as private lessons. Her students include people of all ages, from 5 year olds to the well-seasoned adults. Some favorite teaching moments so far: giving private classes to Stephen Spielberg’s daughter and her friends; teaching wedding couples their 1stdance; and working one-on-one with male dancers to build their confidence on the dance floor. She moved to the island last year from LA, where she was the Dancing Real Estate Agent. She’s hitting the dance floor again, here at Still & Moving Center!
