Learn refinement techniques to take your Acroyoga skills from surviving the basics to thriving intermediate-advanced poses and sequences with finesse and grace. With fine anatomical technique detail and a thorough understanding of the needs of the human body in general and each body in particular, flyers and bases can help each other have an acro experience that is more pleasant and more beautiful, opening the door to increasingly advanced possibilities. This series will underscore developing the ability to listen to each other’s bodies and create wordless dialogues of trust, and will include delightful, effortless and highly effective “acrossage” & Thai yoga massage techniques.

Shai & Shy (ERYT-500)

are an extraordinary acroyoga team specializing in acrobatic & therapeutic technique and refinement. They have traveled the world offering acroyoga workshops in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Israel and Europe and are delighted to now call Honolulu home. As yoga therapists , they emphasize finesse  , refinement and safety in their acrobatic workshops, rather than just teaching “tricks”. They also focus on what they call “acrossage” and classical Thai yoga massage, adding a yummy therapeutic treat to each workshop.

Kate is a mom who comes to us from New Orleans, with jazz and blues etched into her soul, fusing hoopdance and acrobatics into acro-hooping. She instructs individual and group classes to those interested in learning the fundamentals of the hoop. Kate humorous nature and soulful fluidity are both equally embodied through her animated stagecraft. Whether in the classroom or on the stage, Kate’s charm is sure to entertain.

Born in Alaska, Sirkka was raised in Hawaii and was a massage therapist for 13 years until she finally gave it up to pursue hoopdance full time as a teacher and performer with a deep appreciation of the mind/body/soul connection. She also loves to work with children and young-at-heart adults, teaching them through hoopdance that they are capable individuals while exploring their own unique styles of movement.

ki maryKi Mary Wagar, 200 RYT, always felt a fascination with the body and how it functions. She loves the playfulness she discovered in acrobatics and enjoyed the discipline of pilates, and longed to deepen her exploration of her body. Ki began her practice out of sheer enjoyment but delved deeper because of the transformative power, healing, and joy she found within yoga.  She loves the playfulness she discovered in acrobatics and enjoyed the discipline of pilates, and longed to deepen her exploration of her body. After completing her 200 hour RYT at Open Space, she became
certified to teach children with Brynne Caleda through Yoga Ed and
aerial yoga with Wendi Lynch of Aerial Yoga Hawaii. She teaches yoga
and aerial yoga to adults, as well as children. Ki enjoys doing
acro-yoga, hooping, and various aerial formats in her free time. Ki
has a way of teaching children so that they forget they are learning
and adults reconnect with their bodies. She creates a calm and
supportive atmosphere for for all to explore their bodies, physically,
mentally, and spiritually if they wish. Her practice grows each
passing day with asana and meditation, an Ayurvedic lifestyle. She
passes on what has become interwoven with the very fabric of her life
and heart, on and off the mat.
