Learn effective spinal alignment for easy, natural, and powerful walking. Good posture comes not from muscular effort but from the optimal use of the skeleton. Good posture makes you look and feel healthy, strong and poised. The Maasai tribe in Africa is known for its elegant, long, erect posture from neck to lower back. They can walk for many miles without tiring, keeping their ease and bounce.
The beauty of the Maasai posture is its ease, with no shoulders taken back or tummies tucked in. Their uprightness comes from a clear inner skeletal alignment where muscles are free to move without gripping unnecessarily. Artificially forced and unbalanced posture can adversely affect eyesight, thinking, mood, bones, joints and ligaments, as well as organ function. A well-aligned spine significantly contributes to your overall health. ‘Walking like a Maasai’ is a nice conclusion to Eva’s Feldenkrais workshops she heads off to Germany again.
