Meet the Artist ~ Reception with Award-Winning Artist Amber DivaDawn Bonnici

“Heart Openings: Connecting the Wild & Sacred Feminine”

Friday April 20th

6:00 – 7:00 pm

Meet Big Island Award Winning Artist Amber DD Bonnici, whose showing entitled, “Heart Openings: Connecting the Wild & Sacred Feminine,” is hanging at the Still & Moving Center until May 15th, 2012.  This showing includes her current body of work including many never before seen paintings and poetry.

“My own healing journey inspired this show.  It shares the reconciliation of the wild and sacred part within myself.  Painting and poetry has helped me find my voice, embrace fear and courageously step forward to live my vision.   I hope my art and poetry brings connection and inspiration.  Most of all, I hope it reminds people of their own healing and heart opening.”

Amber Bonnici’s artwork and poetry has been featured in the Healing Boxes Project, an organization dedicated to sending out boxes of love, hope, support, information, healing items to people newly diagnosed with chronic and serious illnesses.  In October 2011, her work won the People’s Choice Award and First Place in division at the Helen B. Cassidy Art Show sponsored by the Waimea Arts Council. Amber is the founder of DivaDawn Design, a company created to help women live their inner knowing by offering art, writing, movement, education and support in order to bring healing and inspiration. Amber has studied a variety of movement forms.  She studied The Nia Technique under co-founders Debbie Rosas and Carlos Aya-Rosas, currently holds a black belt and has been teaching 9 years. She dances for Hula Halau Na Lei ‘O Kaholoku led by Kumu Hula Nani Lim-Yap and Kumu Hula Leialoha Amina.

“Painting is a sacred practice, like praying or meditating. I like to connect to Spirit and listen for messages. Each image conveys different themes from my life- from connection and courage, to receptivity and Spirit. My work is both symbolic and divine, wild and holy.”

Light pupus and sparkling cider provided.
