Brought to us by our own Murat Demirtas, Roxie Menzies originally taught him Pilates and fueled his fire for impassioned dance…..

James Brown said it straight, “MAKE IT FUNKY,” and that’s exactly what we’re gonna do! This class is a delicious blend of traditional, contemporary and stylized African and Caribbean movements fused with all things funky. Be prepared to sweat, have fun and get your groove on!

Also with Roxy:

Private Sessions with Roxy Menzies for Pilates or Yamuna Body Rolling

Bookings available

Roxy Menzies

Roxy Menzies has been a lover of movement her whole life!

Even in stillness our physical, energetic, spiritual and emotional bodies continue to pulsate and create rhythms.

Her curiosity for life and movement led her to live, work, grow and travel around the globe. Upon reflection, one can see a pathway through travel, art, work and new opportunities that’s taken her from the Dance world to Pilates to massage to GYROTONIC® and to Yamuna® Body Rolling.

Roxy was a dancer of the African diaspora and contemporary dance.  Highlights of her dance career include training with the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica and dance pioneer, Katherine Dunham.  She was an original member of Toronto’s first all female Hip Hop dance group, PhemPhat and worked with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. She has extensive experience in commercial as well as stage work and represented women for Nike Dance in Europe.  She has presented, guest taught or performed in London, New York, Paris, Beirut, China, Turkey, Greece and Thailand.

The vision of her work is to guide individual’s to explore their own movement capabilities – to stand, walk and fulfill any daily activity or sport with grace and length. Essentially for individual’s to live and move with ease and without pain. Roxy believes we are all healers and we all have the capacity to deeply connect our mind, body and spirit and have fun doing it!
