The Blooming Lotus Meditation Series: Exploring the Teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh with Miku Lenentine
8:00 – 9:00 am (HST)
5 Sundays: Nov 1 to 29, 2020
Waking up this morning, I smile.
Twenty-four brand new hours are before me.
I vow to live fully in each moment
and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.
– Thich Nhat Hanh
Welcome to The Blooming Lotus Meditation Series, inspired by the recent birthday of Thich Nhat Hanh. This amazing Zen Buddhist teacher, activist and beloved meditation practitioner turned 94 on October 11th and is still inspiring people to walk the path of peace each day.
“Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.”
– Thich Nhat Hanh
For the next 5 weeks, we will explore the “miracle of mindfulness” as shared by Thich Nhat Hanh through a series of guided meditations drawing from his book The Blooming of a Lotus.
We will follow his Plum Village Tradition of Zen style sitting meditation, with gentle prompts focusing on an image as we breathe. Each week we will explore a different theme including nourishment, healing, connection, insight, and joy. This practice is for everyone. Beginners and advanced practitioners are welcome. We will spend a little time each session discussing the practice beforehand, followed by 30 minutes of meditation, with time at the end for tea and sharing. You can join for just the meditation portion, or stay for the full experience.
Miku is deeply passionate about living in harmony with the self, others and all beings. She truly believes that each one of us contains the seeds of wisdom for the universe and the true purpose of being a teacher is to help guide each person to access the wisdom they already hold within themselves.
An experienced meditation practitioner and circle facilitator, Miku was raised in a mindfulness tradition and has trained with Dr. Eric Carroll at the Center for Vibrant Living for the past 8 years. She has guided weekly meditation, movement, and community dialogue circles since 2013 and facilitated a number of workshops in the greater Seattle area over the years most recently including Soulshine, Songaia, and Star Community. She has also presented mindfulness, yoga, and movement offerings at festivals and gatherings such as Beloved, Flowstate and the Northwest Permaculture Convergence.
