Healthy Life Tip: Customize Your Travel Kit

This list contains suggestions for custom assembly of your first aid & health kit, trip-to-trip, based on where you are going, in what conditions, at what time of year, and upon your particular needs.

Motion-sickness

  • Bonine/Dramamine pills or Transderm patch  (either may cause side effects, person-to-person)
  • Ginger – tea, dried, candied

Sleep

  • Melatonin
  • Camomile/Sleepy Time tea
  • Eye shield
  • Good ear plugs

Digestion

  • Probiotics – BioFermin from Japan is particularly effective to counteract diarrhea and intestinal problems
  • Activated Charcoal – to settle upset tummy
  • Papaya seed extract – digestive enzyme

Immune System / Anti-microbial

  • Grapefruit seed extract
  • Noni products

Colds

  • Cough suppressant/expectorant (BT brand, alcohol-based)
  • Cough drops & throat lozenges
  • Face-mask to protect others

Allergy / Infection

  • Antihistamine (natural such as Vitamin C or synthetic)
  • Antibiotics if going to remote area

Splinters

  • Needle
  • Tweezers

Truama

  • Arnica – for bruises & sprains
  • Rescue Remedy – for after stressful, dangerous, alarming events
  • Acetaminophen, aspirin or ibuprofen – your preferred pain/fever reliever
  • Hydrogen peroxide/Iodine/Betadine/Hibiclens for wound cleaning
  • Neosporin – to care for wounds
  • Bandages & butterfly bandages
  • Skin glue (medical grade super glue) – making sure to clean wound EXTREMELY well before glueing
  • Stitching kit if going to remote area (Dr may be there, you have kit)

Burns

  • Sunscreen with zinc/titanium and without oxybenzone or octinoxate
  • Aloe vera for burns/sunburn

Humidity / Dryness

  • Your favorite products for moist or dry climates
