Celebrating Magnificence: Ruth Huang Our Student & Valentine Heroine
Be sure to say aloha to Ruth Huang when she’s back visiting Still & Moving for a couple weeks in February. Ruth is our Valentine heroine! At age 69 she found the love of her life, uprooted herself from Hawaii and moved to Texas. There she joined a dear man – John – on his beautiful piece of rural land. They had known each other long ago, but a chance re-meeting last year allowed love to blossom, and they are storybook-happy to be together now.
It’s surprising how much a person is willing to change for love. According to her dear friend – one of our Golden Circle Members – Joyce Nakauchi, Ruth is not much of a wilderness person. Ruth even had trouble caring for someone’s cat once for a few days. Now at John’s place, Ruth has learned to live with 2 cats, 2 dogs and a small flock of chickens! Being in that part of the world, John hunts deer, so Ruth has gone from not eating much meat to learning a hundred ways to cook venison.
Staying true to herself, Ruth has also managed to find a place to do yoga 3-4 times a week in the nearby town of Curville. She’s also revived her skill as a painter and will be showing her paintings in an upcoming art exhibit. John cheers her on. Hooray for Ruth and new love!
